New spot welding machine PL 180-MF from DALEX - Medium frequency transformer offers many advantages
DALEX Schweißmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG an expert for all processes related to resistance welding, has developed a range of welding machines for flexible welding tasks in economical continuous operation and has extended its PL machine series by a variant with medium frequency (MF) transformer. The new spot welding machine PL 180-MF provides a large welding range along with long electrode life, low energy consumption and excellent spot weld quality.
The PL machine series from DALEX is the link between two worlds: On the one hand the craftsman machines (SF and SL series) are available. They are very robust systems for use in repair workshops. Although occasional continuous use is not a problem thanks to their solid construction, they are designed for periodic use such as repair welding and small batches. On the other hand, DALEX also supplies PMS industrial machines for industrial multi-shift continuous operation. If, however, you are looking for a high-capacity commercial machine for long running times - even in shift operation - you will find the right machine in the PL series. With the new PL 180-MF, DALEX now offers a long-running reliable spot welding machine with economical medium-frequency technology.
"Combining our spot welding machines with our MF transformers was a logical step. Medium-frequency technology offers numerous advantages over AC technology, such as a larger welding range and longer electrode life," says graduate engineer Hans-Werner Chwalisz, Sales and Marketing Manager at DALEX. MF transformers from DALEX generate a high-quality direct current for welding that can be regulated quickly and precisely in the millisecond range. This translates into high weld-spot quality. Thanks to the low power input and the reduced energy requirement, the user also saves considerable costs, so that the slightly higher purchase price incurred as a result of the technology pays for itself very quickly. Hans-Werner Chwalisz: "In addition, MF technology (connection to three phases) is often the only way, especially for small and medium-sized companies, to connect such welding machines without changing the power supply. The power input is often limited there." Further advantages are the fast current rise, low inductive losses, low spatter tendency and the compact and lightweight design of the transformers.
The new medium-frequency spot welding machine has a rated power of 180 kVA and an electrode stroke of 90 mm. The parallel guided electrode force system ensures the application of forces up to a maximum of 6 kN. With the continuously adjustable arm projection from 350 to 650 mm and a height-adjustable arm spacing, it can be used in a wide range of applications. In addition, the PL 180-MF - like the other machines in the PL series - has a multifunctional welding control system. Its convenient memory function enables up to eight material and component pairings. "The spot welding machine with MF transformer offers the ideal entry into the future-oriented and economical medium-frequency technology - especially for small and medium-sized companies," adds Hans-Werner Chwalisz.
